What will I learn?

Classical Surya Namaskar

The ancient sequence of Surya Namaskar is still considered one of the best ways to stimulate the joints, muscles, and endocrine system, etc. Students will not only learn the sequence, but have the ability to self-correct at the conclusion of the program.

Focused Pranayama

The regulation of breath is one of the best ways to tame the wild corners of the mind. Learn how simple breathing can take you into new levels of awareness.

Asanas

“But I’m not flexible enough for Yoga.” As a beginner, we start with union between body and breath. Working slowly and gently through various asanas not only provides therapeutic benefits, it also relieves stress and builds confidence.

Ashtanga 8 Fold Path

The Yamas (Restraints) and Niyamas (Disciplines) provide a framework for one setting out on the path of Yoga. The tenets do not in any way conflict with already existing religious teachings or methodologies. In fact, they deepen ones already existing beliefs.

Meditation

Each day will have a dedicated time to turn inwards, focusing all of one’s attention to the flow of the breath. We will also explore other easy and fun techniques to control the fluctuations of the mind.

Goal Setting

We all have desires and ways in which we see ourselves living our best life. What does that look like for you? Throughout the week, there will be time dedicated to understanding those desires and how best we can achieve them.

Build a Practice

By the end of the program, students will understand the Surya Namaskar sequence for self-practice and have a clear template of additional asanas that best meet their needs and goals.

About the Trainer

Hello, I am Brent

For the past 12 years, I’ve witnessed the countless, life-changing benefits that can come from the practice of Yoga. I was 17 years old when I participated in my very first Yoga class at a music camp. That class would redirect the trajectory of my life.

In New York City, I couldn’t get enough of exploring the different styles and methodologies. My path towards one-pointed focus was multi-faceted – Bikram, Kundalini, Jivamukti, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin – I loved all of it. The more I practiced, the more I began to witness the foundations of my being starting to shift. A call of becoming a teacher started to call out to me, yet I knew, deep down, I needed to invest further into my own maturity before offering the practice to others.

Some years later, at 29 years old, my life’s path took me to India to begin a new life. The opportunity to become a certified teacher in India presented itself once again. This time, I would heed the call.

I began my studies at The Yoga Institute in Mumbai, founded by the late Shri Yogendra Chowk, in hopes of attaining my basic instructor certification. Post graduation, I began work immediately on pursuing my advanced certification.

This program is primarily focused around learning a Yoga practice. However, with consistent practice and dietary discipline, weight loss is a guarantee.
Any new program can be challenging at first. After only a few days, you will be confident with the flow of the schedule and be able to participate with enthusiasm.
Participants will need to bring Yoga/fitness attire, a Yoga mat, personal small towel, a journal, and a water bottle. Please avoid glass water bottles.
This program will cover an educational, rather than a retreat format. Think of this week as a pre-certification for teacher training. It’s about learning and less about pampering.
Brent will hear each students’ individual needs and concerns on how they can best fit the practice to meet their lives.
No, this course is not for those wishing to teach Yoga. However, you will receive a certification at the completion of the program.
